THE BASICS OF IDENTIFICATION

Here is an example of the standard layout for 1965 MK 1 ID elements.  In original form, the JAL tag and its mounting screws would be painted body color.  The large "specification plate" is only proper for Tigers with chassis numbers beginning "B947".

This is the correct arrangement of ID elements for early 1966 MK 1s with chassis numbers below "B382001200".   The exact point at which a change order eliminates the drilling of  cowls for a "spec. plate" that is no longer being installed, is still unknown.

The final layout of ID elements covers the remainder of  MK 1s
and the final 536 MK 2s.

MK 2s carry a "B3821" chassis number prefix and except for the first two cars, their sequence numbers are inflated by ninety seven.
